Motorlocks are used where it is desirable (or necessary) that the lock automatically unlockes the door. Unlocking is accomplished by the built-in actuator that retracts the deadbolt and releasing the latch bolt. Often a motor lock has one uncontrolled side. This side is normally provided with a door handle (or panic bar) for manual operation. As soon as the door closes, the motor lock will automatically lock the door again.
Motor locks are often used in combination with automatic door operators and / or in entrance doors of, for example, apartment complexes.
